Pakistan, Oman explore Collaborative initiatives in Agriculture, food Security

ISLAMABAD, Mar 12 : Federal Minister for Commerce, Jam Kamal Khan, visited the Ministry of Agriculture in Muscat,in a significant move to strengthen bilateral ties in agriculture and food security.

The visit was marked by a warm reception from Saud bin Hamoud bin Ahmed Al Habsi, Oman’s Minister for Agriculture, Fisheries and Water Resources, Said a press release issued here on Wednesday.

Following the cordial welcome, an extensive meeting was held with all departmental heads of the ministry, where the entire ambit of food security was discussed in detail.

During the discussions, Jam Kamal Khan highlighted Pakistan’s robust agricultural potential and elaborated on the country’s green initiative aimed at sustainable development.

He emphasized that Pakistan’s expertise and innovative approaches in agriculture could play a pivotal role in addressing the evolving food security challenges.

In response, Minister Saud bin Hamoud bin Ahmed Al Habsi expressed his view that Pakistan is the most convenient source for meeting Oman’s food security needs.

He underscored the importance of leveraging Pakistan’s agricultural prowess to fortify Oman’s food supply and ensure long-term sustainability.

The meeting also focused on exploring mutual benefits from the exchange of expertise in the marine and fisheries processing sectors.

Both sides agreed to identify and develop joint working projects in agriculture, which would further strengthen the economic ties between the two countries.

In a notable development, the Omani side invited Pakistani agriculture and food processing companies to expand their operations in Oman, opening up new avenues for investment and collaboration.

The visit, characterized by constructive dialogue and a shared vision for enhanced cooperation, is expected to pave the way for deeper engagement in the agricultural sector, ultimately contributing to sustainable economic growth in both Pakistan and Oman.
