Uzbekistan’s Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Investments and Foreign Trade, Sardor Umurzakov visited Pakistan from 21-22nd Feb 2022 along with his forty three- (43)-member delegation, comprising of Ministers, Government Officials and Uzbek Businessmen.

During his visit, the Uzbek Deputy Prime Minister called on the Prime Minister to discuss issues of mutual interest specially the upcoming visit of Uzbek President during first week of March 2022.

Business delegation from Uzbekistan held business-to-business engagements with Pakistani enterprises from the sectors of Textile, Logistics, Food, Engineering Goods, and Pharmaceuticals. A business roundtable has also been organized between Uzbek Deputy Prime Minister and prominent Pakistani businesspersons.

During meeting with Mr. Abdul Razak Dawood, Advisor to PM on Commerce and Investment, the two sides agreed to operationalize Transit Trade Agreement on 3rd March 2022 and finalize agreement on market access, easing of Uzbek Visa for Pakistan Businessmen, appreciated finalization of MOU on banking cooperation etc. Both sides agreed to further strengthen bilateral relations, and to take steps to enhance trade and economic cooperation with the intention expeditiously implement & finalize mutually agreed initiatives.

Moreover, Uzbek delegation held bilateral meeting, on 22 February 2022, with Ministers for Food Security and Research, Minister of Railways, Minister for Planning, Development, and Special Initiatives. Senior Officials also attended the meeting. The trans Afghan Railway Project and cooperation in agriculture sector were discussed.
