Lahore, Pakistan, 22 April 2024: Majid Al Futtaim, which owns the exclusive rights to operate Carrefour in Pakistan, is thrilled to announce the inauguration of a new Carrefour supermarket in Askari 10 in Lahore. The opening of the new store marks another successful addition to Majid Al Futtaim’s expanding presence in Pakistan. With this strategic expansion, Majid Al Futtaim’s current investment in the country is poised to reach 14.3 billion Rupees, further solidifying its commitment to the local market. This expansion also brings the total number of Carrefour stores in Lahore to 8, marking a substantial increase in accessibility and convenience for customers.

With the store opening, Majid Al Futtaim is set to elevate the shopping experience for residents in its neighbouring areas. Situated strategically to serve the community, this addition follows the successful launch of a Carrefour supermarket in Karachi’s Clifton Block and the debut of Karachi’s Myli outlet at Carrefour Lucky One mall. Alongside an onsite cafe, Askari 10 boasts a dedicated fresh butchery section that adheres to international quality standards, ensuring a wide range of meat with exceptional quality and freshness.

Commenting on the expansion, Umer Lodhi, Country Manager of Carrefour Pakistan at Majid Al Futtaim – Retail, stated: “As we celebrate the expansion with the opening of Askari 10, our latest addition to Majid Al Futtaim’s portfolio, we are delighted to share the news of a total of three new inaugurations within the first quarter of this year. This achievement underscores our unwavering commitment at Majid Al Futtaim to enhancing shopping experiences, supporting local businesses, and contributing to the national economy. As we expand our footprint, this initiative is not just about providing exceptional retail offerings, but also about creating approximately 150 new job opportunities, both direct and indirect, for the local community.”

The stores are committed to promoting local brands, with 85 percent of the wide selection of products being sourced from locally owned businesses.

Majid Al Futtaim remains dedicated to expanding its investment portfolio in the country, fostering job creation, empowering local businesses, and enriching the lifestyle of the population through tailored customer experiences.
